I've been hunting the Sheaffer sub-brand WASP pens done in the somewhat flippantly labelled "Screaming Souls in Purgatory" plastic for, oh, at least 5-6 years now. During all that time, with dozens of pen shows and ebay hunting, I've seen fewer than ten pens (counting both colors) in the oversized model. Have owned three in green. Had seen but one in gray. Have been hunting a gray OS for years.

At the Raleigh 2011 pen show in early June, in discussion with a fellow Sheaffer enthusiast, we realized that he had two in gray and at the moment I had two in green. He had no green. I had no gray. Not a bad situation. I took home the first gray OS "screamer" for my own collection. Shortly I am to mail the green that will grace his collection.

I have an extensive collection of Screamers. It might not be complete, but with the addition of this gray OS, it is complete... enough. Posted Image

No doubt though if i stumble on other variants I will grab them.

I offer to you my newly acquired gray OS WASP "Screamer". Definitely a happy David day.

Here's my collection prior to acquiring the gray OS

Thanks for peeking.

Congratulations, David.
Is the WASP OS the same thickness as a Balance OS?
Aren't you missing one of those nice, beautiful, round, colorful, celluloid desk bases in Grey?

Same girth, yes.

Also correct, I lack the gray desk base.

Hope to add another emoticon package during my time off this fall.

Pedro;

The grey desk base is rectangular - saw one just recently.

Shhhh! Don't tell David, he'll go crazy looking for the round one.
Now...do you have a pic or are we supposed to take your word for it?

The one that goes with the grey screamer. I didn't take a pic of it - sorry.

Hi Roger,

Sorry, that wasn't my question though. I have no doubt you've seen a rectangular base in this material, just as we've both seen round base for green. I was exploring whether there is any reason to believe a rectangular base for gray is the only base out there. Certainly it seems possible that more than one base exists for each color. Maybe both shapes are found for both colors, but our exposure is a bit limited. If there is a catalogue page though that shows both colors with specific base shapes...

david

David;

So little documentation on WASPs. I've not seen anything other than round for the green and now rectangle for the grey. The ad that shows a few desk bases doesn't show screamers. There could be more options but, I doubt it.
